Acceptance Criteria
NewStream is able to accept water and wastewater that is
not classified as hazardous
by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MA DEP) or the US EPA (and is therefore "non-hazardous"), and that is
treatable
at our facility.
Non-Hazardous Wastewater Definitions
Non-hazardous wastewater is defined as groundwater, construction/highway project water, industrial process water, or other wastewater that
Does not exhibit any hazardous characteristics (Ignitability, Corrosivity, Reactivity, and Toxicity), and is not a
listed
hazardous waste. (Hazardous characteristics are explained in
Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MA DEP) regulation 310 CMR 30.120 – 30.125
, beginning on pg. 69. Hazardous wastes are listed in
MA DEP 310 CMR 30.130
, beginning on pg. 72.) OR
Is classified as exempt in 310 CMR 30, as defined in
MA DEP 310 CMR 30.104.

Treatability
Sometimes water may qualify as "non-hazardous", but may not be treatable at our facility, or may cause NewStream to violate our discharge permit from the City of Attleboro. Therefore, in some cases, we have to look at the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) of the known chemical constituents of a waste stream to evaluate toxicity to aqautic life and other properties that have the potential to cause problems with our discharge permit.
Important Notes
Loads less than 1,000 gals may be subject to an additional handling fee
NewStream does not handle septage. Any load containing septage will be rejected, without exception.
