Tank Replacement Project

A southeastern Massachusetts gas station was about to begin an underground storage tank replacement project when high groundwater conditions were discovered at the site. Significant dewatering would be required during the excavation, tank removal, and tank setting activities.

Water samples were obtained prior to construction and it was determined that the water was non-hazardous but would still require treatment. A permit for discharge to the local sanitary or storm sewer could not be obtained. In order to minimize the volume of water to be treated, vacuum trucks and frac tanks were staged at the job site and used around the clock for storage and transport to an off-site wastewater treatment facility. Because NewStream operates 24 hours, 7 days and offers an average 30-minute truck turnaround time, the contractor was able to minimize storage and transportation costs and to continue working at all hours of the day.

NewStream's significant storage and treatment capabilities allowed it to receive and treat more than 300,000 gallons from this project during a 48-hour period, while not interfering with our normal treatment and recycling activities. Built to world class standards by Texas Instruments, the NewStream recycling and disposal facility is highly adaptable to treat virtually any non-hazardous process, project, or liquid waste stream.
